The King is Coming

The King is Coming

Christmas has a way of getting us all excited. The lights, the gifts, the family parties, and of course… Santa is coming!

Many of us dive headfirst into the Christmas season, excited about the holiday, but sometimes with a cavalier attitude that says, “Oh, cool… Jesus came.” As if the birth of Jesus was just another part of the holiday instead of the greatest turning point in human history.

It is the mark of God’s promises being fulfilled and gives hope to the masses. But Christmas isn’t only about the miracle that Jesus came—it’s anchored in the truth that the King is coming again.

What if Jesus came right now? Would you be ready? In other words, are you bowing to the King now?

Jesus reminds us who He is when he says, “I am the Alpha and the Omega… who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8)

Christmas is not just a celebration of a past event—it’s an invitation to prepare for the ultimate future one.

To understand Jesus as King, we have to look back at God’s story with His people.
God led Israel out of slavery and into the Promised Land. He was their leader, their protector, their King. But one day they decided they wanted a human king “like the other nations.” They wanted to fit in. They rejected God’s leadership—and God let them have their choice.

They got Saul. A disaster of a king. Then came David—a man after God’s own heart. David wanted to build God a temple, but instead, God made him a promise: A King would come from his line who would reign forever. A King whose throne would never end. A King who would build God’s true house. (See 2 Samuel 7:11–13)

Long before the manger, long before the star in Bethlehem, long before Mary and Joseph—God promised a King. His King. The King the whole world was waiting for.

Since Jesus is God’s promised King our only right response is to bow to him.

The reason we don’t bow to Jesus is simple—we want to be the king. Deep down we want the crown. But that right only belongs to Jesus.

Whatever you bow to, you give authority over your life. And we bow to a lot of things—comfort, success, approval, pleasure, addiction, money, self.

If Jesus came today—this hour, this moment—would He find you bowing or competing for His throne?

To bow to Jesus means to yield your will, submit to His authority, and align your life with His Kingdom.

Are you ready?

Christmas is the unveiling of the greatest story of all time—the story of the King who came to save… and the King who is coming to reign.

The question is simple: Do you know the King and are you following his rulership?

To get ready for the coming of the King, you need to do three things.

First, you need to put your faith in him. Begin believing in his sacrifice on the cross.

Second, you need to repent of your sins. To repent means turning away from the sin in your life, which leads us to the third thing you need to do. You need to walk in obedience to his word.

If you start doing those things right now, from your heart, you will be ready when the King of Kings and Lord of Lords comes again. And you won’t be ashamed when he arrives because you’ll already be living a life that bows to Him.
