Where do the missing socks go? I never lose a shirt in the dryer or a pair of jeans but a sock will vanish every time. It’s one of the great mysteries of the universe.
Even crazier is that no matter how hard you look or how many times you do laundry it still remains missing in action, never to be seen again. Maybe it’s a devious ploy set up by powerful sock cartels to get us to buy more socks? We’ll never know.
With all the things we seek out in our lives like fame, fortune, happiness and missing socks there is one thing we’re to seek above them all – the kingdom of God.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:33-34, “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
We often give our first focus to worries about tomorrow. We constantly worry about the future. Now, thinking and planning for the future isn’t wrong in and of itself but worrying about it so much that it becomes like a god to us is.
The greatest way to get a grasp on the future you’re looking for is to seek God’s kingdom first. Asking God to take first place and have complete authority over your life is the first step to true happiness.
Here’s what you need to know about your future.
1. God has a plan.
In fact, he had a plan for you before you were born.
2. God’s plan is better than your plan.
Oh, you might be a great planner but you’ve got nothing on God. Just look at the stars. He’s named them all!
3. God’s future for you is going to come out WAY better than your future for you.
God’s outcome for your life is always going to end up on top.
So, here’s what I suggest. Start seeking the kingdom of God FIRST in every area of your life. Ask him to rule over your present and your future.
You always find what you’re looking for when you seek him first because God is never lost.
I’m praying for you,
Zac
