(Part Three – “G”)
God’s Living Word
So far we’ve learned to F-I-G-H-T the spiritual fight we need to first and foremost have faith in Jesus Christ accompanied by intentional prayer.
Our next weapon of choice is God’s living word.
Without a doubt, the Bible is the most significant piece of literature in the history of the world. No other book has faced more persecution, hatred, or love than the Bible.
With an estimated six billion copies printed globally it has been supernaturally preserved over the centuries. Time and time again archeology has proven the Bible to be one hundred percent accurate through the finding of entire civilizations, temples and accounts of historical figures such as Jesus Christ. The wealth of information supporting the truth of the Bible is astounding.
Yet it’s not just a book. It is the very living, breathing word of God. As Hebrews 4:12 says, “The word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword… it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
It is God’s sword in our hands and in our hearts. It prepares and equips us for God’s good purpose and to fight the spiritual fight. As 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
It is so powerful, in fact, that Jesus himself spoke God’s living word during his spiritual fight against Satan (Matthew 4) and won the victory with the words: “It is written.”
So if history proves it to be true and reliable, God uses it to equip us for every good work, and Jesus quoted it during his spiritual fight, then why don’t we know it? To neglect God’s living word is equivalent to going into battle without a weapon. Only a fool would do that.
This cannot be overstated. It is the weapon of choice for anyone who wants to live a life of victory.
Bottom line… if you want to win, you have to read it.

Action Steps to F-I-G-H-T The Spiritual Fight:
- Read 1 Thessalonians 2:13 and Romans 10:17.
- Start setting aside time every day to read God’s word. It could be a verse at a time or a whole chapter. If you don’t know where to start I recommend John, Acts, and Romans in that order.
