We’ve reached the season where FedEx, UPS, USPS and Amazon will be delivering a ton of packages to homes across the country. I love the convenience of home delivery but there’s one thing that drives me a little crazy, my delivery guy.
I know I should be thankful for him and I am. It’s just that when he delivers to my house he often knocks four times, makes my dog bark incessantly and rings the doorbell just in case I didn’t hear the knocking. He’s very persistent and really wants to make sure I get my packages.
As much as knocking might drive you crazy did you know that God actually wants you to knock on his front door?
Jesus says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Luke 11:9-10 NIV)
This means that God has something he actually wants to give you, something he wants you to find and somewhere he wants you to go. Here’s the three steps to take:
Always start with asking.
We all struggle with just trying to take what we want. But God wants us to start with what’s polite, honorable and simple. Asking!
When you ask he promises to give according to his will.
Seek it out.
This one takes a little more effort on our part. It means we actually have to look. If you don’t look for something you’ll never find it. Crazy how that works out.
When you seek God, you will actually find what you’re looking for.
Knock on God’s door.
If you don’t knock no one will know you’re there. The best way to knock on God’s door is through prayer. Say, “God please open every door that no man can shut and close every door that no man can open.”
When you knock God always opens HIS door of choice.
I love the promises Jesus gives us. He said if we ask it will be given, if we seek we will find and if we knock the door will be opened. I know that will be true for you.
